Yes keep playing with that style if you only have bamboo.
Use it so that the belly of your bow is the outside of the boo and heat treat it till it is almost black. Forget the deflex at the handle too. Try googling Bhutanese bamboo bows for more ideas.

I tried to have the outside as the belly but it was stiffer and made cracking noises (I guess just the pithy outside, which is what was working as the back?), felt like it was gonna snap. Guess this bamboo isn't of the quality used with Bhutanese bows. Should probably back it with something then, after reducing that pithy inner material.
