Dart Rack
« on: May 11, 2016, 04:57:56 am »
One the girls at work who I've known for years asked if I'd make her a rack for her darts (dunno if you guys over the pond play darts?).
She was in luck as I had a broken bow that would do rather nicely. As the game of darts was quite likely invented by archers whiling away the hours awaiting battle, a bow seemed very appropriate for her "arrows". The two spliced bow tips are mounted to matched polished Water-buffalo horn feet.
It will hold 8 sets of darts.
It was good to reuse the bow tips and give it to her as a present, or as you guys would say repurpose them and gift it to her ::) >:D ;)

Very cool Del. Some of us across the pond throw a few darts but they took away our nice metal pointy ones and old style ( cork ?) boards. Now we have plastic wouldn't want anybody to get hurt they might sue the manufacturer, store that sold them and whoever built the vehicle you transported them from the store to desenation of dangerous incident. I still have a couple darts and a one board from when I was a kid

Hi, yeah the world is mad on both sides of the pond... you guys can have guns but not darts... we can have darts but not guns.
Best we all keep quiet about the bows!
It made me laugh when I took some bows and arrows through customs when I flew over the the Classic... they asked if the arrows were "pointy" I said no O:)

LOL
That's sweet Del

I have the same complaint as BJ.
I quit when they took metal darts out of the pubs.
Welcome to the land of the stupid and over protected.
Well they also have taken most people out too.

PS Back in early 1964 I carried my .30 cal Springfield into
the aircraft cabin and stowed it in the overhead.
Oh yeah it was at Dallas International.
Not a peep. Just a couple months after JFK was murdered.

That's funny Del. You tell a lot of people here if we don't pay attention they will take our right to bear arms away and they say that'll never happen. I say look around at some of the other countries in the world.

Yeah, it's a great thread, beautiful bows.
I think maybe it should become a new category or sub forum :).
I think that dart stand would be about 150# @ 8"  ;)

She was very pleased, I took it into work to give it to her and it drew some admiring comments from the other shirkers I mean workers ;).
It's funny, we all take it for granted that we'll have stuff like Water buffalo horn lying about... One girls asked what's that? Pointing to the shiny black horn, when I said Waterbuffalo horn she was a bit amazed!
She gave me a nice bottle of Prosecco as a thank you :)
