wood mouse trap
« on: May 09, 2016, 11:18:04 am »
I saw many times some clever and nice northern europe wooden mouse trap used in the past.
No glue, screws or nails. I wanted to make one and finally made it.
Probably a little bit on the small size but I doubt I'll use it for real trapping anyway.
All parts from the same beech log and some agave fiber for the string.
I want to share with you some pics as it works really well. The trigger mechanism is very sensitive and it delivers a nice blow.

nice might have to put one in my hunting blind. The agave just to keep from losing trigger piece?

The agave string keep the trigger suspended (and the smashing log too).
When you apply pressure to the central slat of wood (the one with dried grapes on it in the previous pic)  the trigger looses free
You may have to check the string lenght until you find the perfect distance depending on your trap design.
