carved little bow rest for the shooting line
« on: May 13, 2016, 03:13:05 pm »
At my club the shooting line is concrete so I made myself a little bow rest to put my bow on when collecting my arrows, it's oak with Holly wood. I wish I'd gone a little deeper with the carving to give the knotwork more dimension, but it's only for myself and I may take it deeper another day. Two dowels hold it together at either end and It breaks down for easy carriage. ( the feet and tops of the side pieces can also pull off.) Saves getting digs and scratches on my bow.  :)

THAT is an elegant thoughtful solution to what otherwise is a mundane issue. NICE!
... alone in distant woods or fields, in unpretending sproutlands or pastures tracked by rabbits, even in a bleak and, to most, cheerless day .... .  I suppose that this value, in my case, is equivalent to what others get by churchgoing & prayer.  Hank Thoreau, 1857

Thanks Knoll,
At my archery club it is much preferred that you leave your bow at the shooting line when your to collect arrows and I hate putting it down on the concrete, it's easy enough to carry around on field shoots too and saves laying it on damp grass and what not. Thought I'd try for a Lord of the rings kind of look, with something elf inspired I might hit what I'm aiming for more frequently  :-\  :D.

Awesome 8) Quite eloquent.
Her Majesty probably wouldn't mind having tea
on it if you covered it with an oval of cut crystal glass.
That is a dandy Ruddy

That really looks sharp Ruddy. Pertty impresive carving there.

Wow!  That is quite nice indeed!  I would like to see the sides and the chip carving, etc.  Yes I do believe also, that even the Queen Mum, would enjoy sitting on a Royal cushion, on that rest.  Hopefully it is as smooth as it looks, wouldn't want her to catch her knickers on a splinter a what.  That is really nice.  You are definitely an artist with the wood.  Thanks for sharing.

Thanks a lot guys, pleased you like it  :)

That's not a bad idea, a duel stool/bow rest combo for long roves and field shooting, that's something to work on... I like it  8)  :D

Fantastic work!  I know I'd stop and gawk at it if I ever went to a range and saw that.  :)
