Tiller check, take off outer third or middle?

 I think it's too much bend on the inner third, I was curious if I scrape the middle to the tip or just the mid limb or just the tips.. Or any other advice if your better eyes see the flaws.

Keep the last 4" of tips stiff but work on the mids. Leave the fades alone for now.

Post a front profile, and unbraced and braced photos. If it's a board bow it does look a little weak out of the bottom inner 3rd, and stiff top limb mid limb and out.  Hard to give accurate advise without seeing the other photos. Is it taking set bottom limb inner 3rd area?

Not sure I should be giving advice but too me top limb looks stiff mid limb to almost tip. Lower looks ok. I'd slowly take some off top limb mid limb almost to tip for what my advice is worth

Yes it took 1 and 1/8" of set on both limbs all in the inner third  :-\ I will get the other pics up

Now that you say it I agree I think the top is a tad stiffer than the bottom

Try turning it upside down and take another picture, see if it still looks that way. It also looks like you might be holding the string a bit high. Be sure you're pulling where you will be pulling.

Get those outer limbs bending more. The reflex makes it hard to get them moving.

Top limb is considerably stiffer than the bottom.

If it were my bow I'd be using a scraper-like tool on only the upper limb from mid limb on. I'd take 20 scrapes and check tiller i front of a mirror or window at night.
Then continue.

When I think I had it right (bottom limb slightly stiffer at full draw by a 1/4") then I'd have someone snap a full draw digi to make sure. Jawge

Outer limbs and stay away from the handle area. The inner limbs are probably taking set because the are out working the outer limb.

Mullet called it. 

Don't worry much about the set.  1 and 1/8" isn't too bad at all for oak.  Since you added reflex, it's probably slightly more than that, and it probably does come from too much bend close to the handle.  But we've all seen worse.

As you tiller next time, try had not to pull the bow past the intended draw weight at any stage.  An inline scale and pulley set up on your tiller tree is great, but even just a weight you can hang on the long-string works fine.  Even if the bow only bends a couple inches, make whatever corrections you can, and look again.  This really helps with both set and coming in at exactly the draw weight you intend.

Well it might be fine for oak but it's hickory, I realize though that I put some extra heat on the middle third for both limbs to get the string closer to center and the slight reflex at the end got more heat too, should have realized the stiffness that would bring. Yes I think I will get one of those scale and pulley set ups going, just using an old bathroom scale is not cutting it
