instead of making a new thread, can i post another rock for identification?
i knocked a slab off of it earlier; but thinking i should probably save this stuff until i have time to treat it.
edit: after searching around online, it appears to be a rhyolite. if so, i don't have to wait to heat treat it, hah hah.

i tried flaking a small chubby piece to see how it acted. it's very tough and the flakes almost fracture into powder as they run.

but the edge remains very strong and sharp.
