Smiles on kids' faces can make a fellow turn the world upside down. Way to go. You both got a lifetime memory out of that.

I would have gone nuts as a kid to get such an awesome cloak!  Then I would have scoured the nearby woods for the perfect wizard wand or staff, or maybe a "bow".  ;)

Thank you very much for the nice comments!  We hosed it down with scotchguard yesterday and she's been out playing in the rain today to test its water resistance.  It did pretty good for awhile.  She even wore it to church this morning (with some mild protestations from her mom and sisters).  She got quite a few nice compliments from the older ladies.  I hope my stitches are sound, because it's looking like it's gonna see a lot of use this spring.  Thanks again!  Josh

Del- I'm blaming spell check!  Lol!

I do medieval/renaissance reenactment and there's nothing quite like a good cloak. I'm honestly baffled as to why they ever went out of fashion, they are such a useful garment. One day I'll get the materials together and make my dream winter cloak, heavy wool on the outside, fur on the inside and a layer of felt in the middle.

We're doing a stall at a Middle Earth festival in the autumn - I'm definitely going to have to sort us out with some of those!

She looks very cute, like an elfin princess.

Elfin, Elvin, and Elven are correct, just like Dwarves and Dwarfs.  Depends on if you're going off of Tolkien or common usage.  ;)
