choctaw nock making?

I don't really get it. It would be interested to know how it really works, though. Would this be done just with obsidian (or glass??)  flakes? I don't see how the nock would break out like that.

 I may end up just using a drill and then hammering a knife into it.

 I don't know about that knocking or special wood breaking way.

  I've used 3 hack saw blades (1/8") taped together for yearsssss. Some times 4  (3/16 Th's) taped together if needed for thicker knaped heads. After 4 blades I use a file for findle fit.

  A lot easer that making that cut with osaidin flake.
