I'm hoping y'all can help with the ID of this thing. It was cut down the other day and it was a monster. There's more bow sized pcs. I can get just wanted to know if it is worth it. It is very heavy

Looks like elm to me

If you can flatten out a leaf and take a pic it will be easier, but I think I saw some toothy margins so I'm leaning towards elm

Looks like it might be red elm. Yes it will make a bow. Red elm is stronger than American elm and not quite as strong as Rock elm or Wych elm.

Definitely elm.  Bark has rounded lower edges and peels to the side.  Cherry would have noticeable lenticels , large  horizontal slits in the bark of both the old and new growth.

Many people say the opposite about Red and American elm.

Thanks guys.  I'll pick up some more and start splitting. By the things I have read about elm I think I have my work cut out for me as to splitting it.  Should be worth it though.

A closer examination on the leaves would have helped a lot but most of the guys have settled on elm so ... From those pics I would also say elm

Does look like some type of elm. I can't speak for red elm but if it is winged or American elm you will break a sweat splitting it
