Got Friends?
« on: April 06, 2016, 02:51:57 pm »
I have a good friend and hunting buddy named Jeff.  He is not into bow making but does hunt.  He also cuts trees part time.    He delivered this to my place on my birthday the other day and I was so happy.  We hardly ever find Osage this straight,no twist ,and big in my area of Texas.  Ive always been jealous of the mid-west boys with those pipe straight pieces they find.  Well now I got my own.  The main log is 8ft long and probably 15" diameter. the other log is about 64 in long and 12' diameter .    I just wanted  to make people jealous.  >:D   and to brag on my friend.   He already owns a couple of my bows and flint knives.  Dont worry ive sprayed sealed and i am in the process of removing sapwood and splitting into staves.

I believe I heard a chorus of angels singing as that first photo opened up!   O:)

OK I am jealous as well. In spite of being in the midwest all the osage in my shop as of now is far from clean and straight.
Nice haul Nathaniel, enjoy your treasure buddy.
