help
« on: March 12, 2016, 10:04:42 pm »
I just made and retempered dozzen trade points. I made from old 1095 old 1/8" saw mill blade. I've made dozzens of trade points and lots of knives useing those old saw mill blades. Through years. I have a couple ways I've always browned the trade points, MLers through the years.

Anyone out there in lighten me on some of the ways you brown steel.

 This should be primitive enough

That's not funny.  I used to have a serious habit.  It all came to a crashing end when I got the pulltab caught in my nose!

I'd just temper them to your liking and use em.Let the blood petina them as they get used. That's natural right?Otherwise old plum brown from dixie gun works which probably's got the same ingredients as what's been mentioned.

The coke joke is not funny only to the coke user's. That blood thing sound cool but mind always gets rusty.

Thanks I've tried all but mustard.

I have a few old heads I'll clean one up and give it a try. I've used  a old IROQIOU'S way CROOKETARROW taught me. We and I still do use the same way.

I guess I was looking for something in the home made line.

Also to you JW we've all been there with one drug or another. 2 Or 3 for some of us. My old lady just laughed and said 4.
