My first selfbow (Osage)

This is my first selfbow and I like it a lot. It shoot really good and is a blast.  It's Osage, 66 t2t 45#@29" yew tips and arrow rest. With an Elk wrap and cork built up handle.  It got a little bit of snake on the top limb. Just under 1 1/4" at its widest. Thanks to Hunterbob for all the help!  And the guys on the trad. This is my plan A. Now on to B!  Any feed back on it is greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking. Tim

I'd say the upper limb is a tad weak in the inner 1/3. Maybe easing off the lower limb just a whisker will balance it up a bit (it's right that the lower is a bit stiffer)
Yew is an interesting choice for the tips as it is a bit soft, but I can see how that will work to provide a good surface for the string that will bed in.

BTW... don't you hate the way the camera will focus on the background and not on the thing that is plumb centre of the picture? >:( Photographing bows can be a nightmare.

Not too shabby at all for your first bow!

Del is right though about the tiller. But just to be sure could you post a braced and unbraced picture of your bow.

Looks like you used super glue on your handle wrap. I've made that kind of mistake with leather before. Next time try contact cement or a little elmers glue. The contact cement will hold it great.

Looks pretty good. It is far better than my first. Very impressive.

Just check to see if the bow is balanced by drawing and noting if the bottom limb tips toward you or if the handle pressure seems uneven.

Thanks guys.  I'll get an  unbraced pic up ASAP. Patrick I did use contact cement for the handle but I did make the mistake of putting the handle wrap on before the true oil.

Sorry about that bud.. Yup the Tru oil goes on then the wrap. Tru oil is also a protectant,  even though you are going to add a wrap always put some finish on the handle.

By the way,  the bow is really nice! Especially for your first.
