Deadly trio
« on: February 15, 2016, 10:42:19 pm »
Made a few points for a member, Fred Arnold, on a trade for some sinew and think these points came out super well. All an exact 70 grains, 1" wide, lengths vary a smidge for the weights. Used 3 different flavors of obsidian banded, tiger, and I dunno but it looks cool. Also, I'd put any of these against one of Ryan Gill's sharpness tests.

May my presence go unnoticed, may my shot be true, may the blood trail be short. Amen.

those look like they will get the job done quickly and efficiently. By looking at the bucket bottom just below your hand you have been very busy lately. nice pointy rocks.

  SWEETTTTTTTTTTTT

I make my hunting points serrated.

Sharpen the sureties you have the sharpest stone point you can make.

  I've shot 6 bucks 8 doe's and 5 gobblers with serrated points.

Watching Ryan's videos and reading his book/ posts have been super helpful. Crooketarrow that's an impressive resume! I've found the wider serrations to be sharper then the narrow, yourself? Hoping that this year marks the start of my SUCCESSFUL primitive career. Got only a squirrel to my name so far haha.

Those look great, Dylan! Obsidian is a great rock to start on, just don't be overly frustrated when you switch to something different. Your points look sharp and ready to use.
