Red Oak board (self-bow #2)

I was asked to make a bow for a friend. I decided to keep cost down because I am giving it away, so I went with red oak from the hardware store a couple blocks from my apt. I think it turned out pretty good, although I have noticed one design flaw. Specs: 1.75 at the fades strait taper to just under.5 at the tips. Reasonably flat belly with rounded edges. Stiff in the handle. Keawe wood tip overlays.
I have put about 80 arrows through it so far. It measures between 44 and 48 lbs at 28in. 62in nock to nock. It has taken some set and I am assuming that is a design flaw. It shoots very well and without the hand shock of my other self bows/board bows. I am loving this thing. The finish is Vinegaroon dye/stain with spar-urethane over it. I hope my buddy likes it.
And the Money Shot. (had to take a still from a video hence the poor quality photo.)

That's a pretty good bend there. I'm sure your friend will be happy as can be. Red oak is a decent bow wood, but not the greatest, I wouldn't be to worried about that little bit of set. I like to stain job, color looks good!

I think that bow looks great. it seems to me that you've done really well to hold onto that unbraced side profile with a 48# 62" ROBB!

Nice work on that red oak bow, the tiller looks excellent. Your friend should be pleased to have that bow to shoot.

Well thank you all very much. Being fairly new here I appreciate all the kindness. While I have been lurking on this site and Trad Gang digging through build alongs and talking with people much more experienced than myself, I have not made very many bows. This is number 4 I believe,(2backed and 2 self bows) so the encouragement is helpful! I am developing an addiction..
I appreciate all the kind words. I will keep posting them as they get built!
