Craigslist score
« on: January 24, 2016, 09:06:51 pm »
I stopped after work today and looked at some files and rasps I saw on Craigslist.  We went back and forth on price and I picked out all that looked useful to me.  We settled on $20 for all of them plus the red shelf that holds them.  Most of the flat files are USA made Nicholsons that I plan on making knives out of.  There are some Arcade and Keller also.  The one farriers rasp doesn't have a name but its twice as thick as the other one and it feels sharp.  I'm going to soak them all in vinegar to knock some of the rust off.  I hope to add some of the rasps to my tool box.

The one that resembles a #49 is an Arcade.  I was sure hoping it was a Nicholson but Arcade is a good brand also.

You always get all the good stuff.   ::)

Good followup . . .. and Congrats!

You can send the ones that aren't too far gone to Boggs Tools and they will sharpen them to like new condition.

I figured the heavy duty farriers rasp was worth what I paid for all of them.
