Latest: Spotted gum
« on: January 24, 2016, 11:29:03 pm »
Here's my latest.
Spotted gum (Corymbia maculata; used to be classed as Eucalyptus maculata) floor board, 68" n-n, 58lbs at 28".  1 3/16" x 3/4" in the middle; 1/2"x 3/8" at the tips.  It's working pretty hard, and upon reviewing the photos, there's a bit too much work being done about 1/3 in from both tips.  It may yet fail under use, giving me an excuse to make another  ;D
It was my first go at a Flemish loop string; it's a little bit sloppy, but it works, and I can only get better.
I'm pleased with the way I shaped the tips.

Always a pleasure to see such a simple stick.
Like you said, a bit too much bend in the outer thirds.
Shoot it as long it stays together. Good to have alredy a plan for the next.
