I kinda hated getting rid of that bow.
The stave is from one I got at OJAM from Ashley. It was a pretty nice clean stave. I chased the ring right under the sapwood. It kinda looked cool for a while but by mojam it looked mostly like sapwood. So I decided to put one of my newly acquired timber rattler skins on it.
What Kyle didn't tell you is that I finished up this bow at mojam with him working on the other end of the table.
The handle wrap is hackberry bark. One night Kyle helped me put the handle wrap on. We applied lots of tb3 and wrapped it tightly. He even wrapped it up with his inner tube. He had no idea it was his bow.
II applied 5 coats of spray on valspar topcoat. Then singed it and applied 3 more. JohnW said that the "topcoat" was the same thing as topcoat for cars. It came out really nice. I wasn't fond of the cow horn strike plate. It kinda got pithy on me. Oh, and I had to add some coon tail string silencers for him.
All in all it came out nice and I'm glad to have made it for you Kyle!
The bow is a flat bow style with bison horn overlays. It is 68TTT, 66NTN it weighs in at 54#@28".
