painting on rawhide.

what do you all recommend to use to paint on a rawhide backing?
I was thinking an acrylic paint because its what I have but I figured id ask you guys on here before I messed up on something.
i need nothing but my old bow and arrows.

These are paint pens used on rawhide...I'm not very good with a paint brush.  I like to dye the rawhide after.  This got a little darker then I wanted but it turned out pretty good.

Yep acrylic will work fine. I have also used the paint pens I picked up from hobby lobby.

I have also "stained" the rawhide with watered down RIT and also leather dye.

I used pens, acrylic and India ink.
