Gutshot,
If your close but it's still being stubborn, I believe if you get close to final you have a better chance of moving it. I aint seen your stave or had it in hand, just seems the less wood ya got to move the easier it would be to move it.....Hows that for "no help at all" >:D

That's why I was thinking too just wanted a 2nd opinion. So tonight the wood chips will be flying and it will go back to the jig with a little heat to persuade it.

At the moment I am thinking of a take-down lever arm bow for my guy.  I'm using a 4" wide, high crowned sapling which I have cut down to 2" wide at the fades, 65" ntn, any ideas how thick the limbs should be for a 50lb draw? Also, I have always gone hollow limb with hazel as I think it helps avoid crysals but is this a good approach for a lever-arm bow (don't wanna call it molle or holmegaard cos it won't be a replica)?

This was prior to bending....I'll post the other tonight.  I want to get the limbs to come around a little then I'm gonna heat treat and hopefully flip the tips a little.

Well, finally got the little wife to take a few pics of me.

I got some work done on my stave Friday and have had it in my hot box since.  It needs to dry a few more day since it's loosing weight.  It was harvested last March but is not as dry as I thought.  I need to get a crook out of the handle area and will post a few more pics soon.

It's great to see everyone making progress.  Keep it roll'in guys.

I finished the first layer of sinew on the black walnut. I'm working on layer #2 and will post a pic tonight.
Drewster, good mug shot. I had the impression you were younger. You've got me beat by a year.
I found many years ago that it is much easier and more rewarding working with those that don't know anything than those that know it all.

Hey Fred, I'm no "spring chicken" but I've sure had fun learning to build wooden bows......kinda addictive :-)
