Fred, i think you've been doin a great job. That nap is well deserved.anyone got any advise on a hackberry layout? My blank is 64" long and currently 1 5/8" at widest til mid limb. Thinkin from there taper to 1/2" tips. Lookin to get 55#. Oh, got my victim's info. So let the games begin \m/

I have a hackberry laid out with a huge knarly knot in the fade. Maybe I'll try and tiller it out. We'll see. I wanna do a lam glue up but it's too cold ATM. So we'll see where we end up. Maybe he'll get two?

I'm sorry to inform the futer owner of the trade bow that my girl and I are making. She just said she will make a hot pink and lime green string for the bow. Now don't fret about the colors she calls it watermelon. I know all of us like watermelon now don't we.

Hay I got one and she made her older brother a pink and blue. So who knows who will get one. I'm afraid to take it off my bow. Can't stand to hurt their fillings

Well, I got a second bamboo slat ready to go, just in case. Also laid out plans for a planing jig that will be able to make both parallel and tapered boards (mainly so I can taper the bamboo).

I hope to have my osage glued by the weekend so I can rough shape it.

I almost made a pink string for my brother's bow this Christmas to poke at him a little, but decided to go with more traditional color.  If only I had realized I could call it watermelon... he would have gotten a pink string!  In all seriousness, I would be honored to receive a watermelon string or even a pink string from your daughter if I happen to be the lucky guy!

Just came in from scraping on the red bud stave.  Trying to get the back down to one ring.  I've got about 2 feet clean.  Found a couple clusters of pin knots I hadn't seen before.  Once I get the stave clean, I will layout the bow and hopefully the knots won't be a problem. I am probably slower than most, probably takes me 4 or 5 hours to get a stave down to a single ring.
