Are you standing on a chair in that picture?  ;D

That's a good lookin profile planb!

So I've got one of the ironwood staves bending back to 26", little more tillering. Only problem is the little twist in one tip. I've steamed it out twice now, keeps creeping back to where it started.

I have had ironwood do that before....if the bow is drawing back smoothly that tip twist will make no difference at all.....and make it's life any shorter either.  Inter-tangled grain has pros and cons....tough as nails but a tad willfull. 8) 8)

Thank you everybody!  :) :) :)
Had to put it away in the shed to let it rehydrate for a few days.

Looking forward to reading about all your great bows in the meantime....!!!

Hey fellas,
Just thoughgt I'd show you that all of mine dont make it either ::) ::)
This was going to be the 3rd Penobscott....had it to 75# @ 14....and was stretching it out a bit. Then a small pin knot  (right on the edge, duh) decided to lift a splinter....but it's a damned fine one.
Anyways, I can save it for a lighter bow but it's days as a heavy-weight are all done.....all ready cut out my plan "B". So here's the pics fellas.

Half Eye, that stinks. But 75# that would've been a whopper of a bow when it was done. What weight were you going for?

That's a shame, Rich, but I know you'll have another whipped up even better.

That is a lot of weight Rich - and it was looking good.  Knots on edges have bitten me a few times!  I avoid them at all costs now.
Enjoy the hunt!  Mitch

Dang Rich, it would take me and my best friend to draw that bow.  You were ambitious.  Give her another go.
