Not on the weekend... lol.
I have been building beehives for this spring. Had to get them all painted.... During the week I am doing school though.

That stave was sittin' there the whole time...   Right in the corner of my eye. Hahaha.

Thanks for the kind comments gents.   The marker board was rescued from the trash after a bunch were replaced with "smart boards" at a school.

Fred - the hackberry I am working on I left a full 2" wide at the fades.  I will most likely end up narrowing it a bit as I continue to tiller, but I wanted enough wood to make weight.

Another hackberry I made a while back (pyramid) I ended up about 1 3/4" wide tapered straight to 1/2" tips to make 50# at 28".  Hackberry is good bow wood, but must be made wider than osage.

Sidmand - you got to love bendy handle osage bow!!  Looking forward to seeing it take shape.

Two heat sessions has my reflex evened up as good as I think I can get it and my tips in line. Got my tips moving about 6 inches so hopefully I can get them moving far enough tomorrow to get her to low brace. Still trying to decide if I want to heat treat it or not as I have read mixed reviews on heat treating vine maple. Will wait untill I get it to full brace to decide.

Looking good turtle. Another bow wood I haven't used. I'm going to have to start doing some stave swapping.

All looking real good. stix, I'll bet that 1/8 positive will be excellent on that bow.

Had a little disaster today steam bending. Broke a tip, and lost 4". I figured the bow was a write-off then. But after walking away from it, eating lunch, coming back and looking at it all carefully, I realized I could make it bendy handle, shift it up the unbroken limb and reshape the fades longer and get a 62" bow out of it. By reshaping the fades it actually now looks more like the Sudbury bow I was interested in. Starting to re-tiller and it's coming along easy. In fact easier than before. I like the way it looks now -- a little more character and less generic, if I can make draw length I might like it even better than before. We'll see...
I love it when a plan B comes together....
