5 gallon square steel cans

I am looking for something I can set over the camp stove to make a lot of hot water AND I can plumb in a garden spigot or somesuch for dispensing the aforementioned hot water.  I found some stainless steel 5+ gallon stock pots already plumbed in for beer brewing, but they are too danged expensive. 

So, I am tapping the collective genius of some of the planet's best scroungers, re-purposers, and all around box free thinkers on the planet. 

Anyone?

Yeah, and they are all get paid good!  LOL, doing this one on the cheap, if possible.

If they were new, sure.  But no one wants the taste of gasoline in their coffee. I guess I should have said this is for potable water that will be used for coffee and for washing dishes in camp.

yeah gas and coffee probably not a good mix. I have seen square metal cans, I think used for cooking oil. you might check your local restaurants. ed

What about a turkey fryer pot?  You might be able to find a used one on craigslist.

Shipping would be pricey, buying local would be better. Why not try a large 40 cal ammo can? Or clean up a 5 gal can used to hold kerosene or thinner? Some have threaded metal spouts. If not, pipe fittings could be installed to plumb it.

I just checked eBay and a 30 qt turkey fryer pot brand new was $30 with free shipping, a spigot should be easy enough to hook up, only problem i see is it ain't square😈

Go to a Hardware store and see if they have any metal kegs bulk nails or bolts come in or kegs for bulk chain. Drill a hole smaller then the spigot, screw it in and rubber washer and bolt tight from the inside.

I do not know if this helps. I saw a beer maker using a water cooler, you know the igloo type with the spout on the bottom for cold water at construction sights or in camp. Apparently you can put in a valve where the spout is and pour your very hot liquid into the cooler to do your dispensing operation. I guess it actually keeps the liquid pretty warm too until you need to start dispensing through the valve. He just used normal stock pots to do his cooking or water heating then transferred it to the cooler.

Look for stock pots, that's what I use for brewing. Amazon has a SS one for $32.50.
