Norway Maple Selfbow

65" long, 55# at 27".   1&7/8" wide from fade to taper.  I cut this tree in a waist area behind the local post office after it blew over in a summer storm. turned out to be mostly twisted and I just just this one fair stave.  Had a propeller twist in what became the upper limb that I heated out with much trial and trib.  Very resistant to either dry heat or steam modification.  REALLY.  Had to tiller around a slightly reflexed kink in lower limb and deflexed kink in upper (mid limb for both).  Absolutely refused to heat into a reflex.  But it didn't take much deflex either.  Hard, tough wood.  Shoots nice.   Black leather dye under truoil, horn tip overlays, soft elk leather grip

Interesting limbs Dave sort of holmegard look to them, i bet shes pretty
fast with those narrow tips.

Good job, Dave. Glad you had a chance to use Norway Maple. It is so common and makes for good bow wood.  I've got a really straight one in back yard but I've got to think awhile before cutting down a yard tree. Got your successful self bow all bookmarked for Feb!!
