yellow wood
« on: January 02, 2016, 03:36:04 pm »
I got my young friend Danzn Bar to help with with a little hedgeapple tree today.

You don't often see them split this straight, through a branch!

Just a look at how big this tree was..

You struck gold! That's some nice looking bow wood right there. It doesn't get much better than that.
Straight wood may make a better bow, but crooked wood makes a better bowyer

Nice catch!! I believe I see some streaks that will turn red in that batch. It's going to capture your attention as it seasons.
I found many years ago that it is much easier and more rewarding working with those that don't know anything than those that know it all.

Thanks Joe for the opportunity to get out of the house and help you with that yeller wood....
That was some of the straightest, knot and branch free osage I've cut.  I'm sure there will be a bow or two made out of that stuff...
Again ...thanks for the invite buddy. and tomorrow my arms and back will not let me forget how much fun we had today.. ;D ;)
