I finished this bow a few weeks ago, but hadn't had the chance to take some photos of it until today.
I have a bunch of these sticks in the corner, anytime I cut some yew, and theres any decently clean branches over 40" i'll always take them home too.
They make such great bows, and are always full of character.
This branch was about 1.5" on the big end, and about 1" on the small end.
I would of normally used the reflexed tension side, but there was some sapwood rot and a funky knot, so I went with the compression deflexed side.
On these big deflex staves, I try to get a very heavy floor tiller and a perfect thickness taper soon as possible.
I steamed in small recurves, and it needed no heat corrections.
Rawhide wrapped tips, built up cork handle and leather, and the cottonmouth skin was from Bruce.
What better way to find a matching set than to split one down the centre.
finished with shellac and tung oil.
54" ntn, 1-1/8" wide for most its length.
55# at 25".
Cheers guys thanks for looking
