sharpen the arrow like a pencil and let in a little triangle of plate antler or horn into the tip to re-enforce it - leave it proud as a hunting tip if you prefer - weighs pretty much nothing - bout the same as the material you saw out for the slot it sits in.

That's a good point BH.  I might buy some bright orange or pink feathers so they are easier to find.
