New bow with set of arrows
« on: December 19, 2015, 02:20:45 am »
A short time ago I had Indianguy make me a southern plains style, Osage orange bow with a set of 6 matching arrows for a southern plains mountain lion quiver.

Specs:

41" long and 50 lbs @ 17"-18" draw.
Green and yellow ocher paint
Braintanned handle
Green dyed horsehair decoration on the upper limb

Dogwood shafts with turkey feather fletchings, green and yellow cresting and trade points made from barrel hoop metal

Stunning....and I think authentic in every way with materials and construction.Bow..osage with ocher dye, dogwood arrows, wild turkey fletching, points on arrows from barrel hoops lost by settlers, and the quiver....stunning too.All locally available to the Indian back in the 1800's.This one was a labor of love.Maybe a Commanche bow??????It's a keeper!!!!! and kuddos to the constructor and organizer and I know this one took awhile. Most authentic display I've seen yet on here. You did your research correct I think.OOOOh and yea a full draw would be nice.

Very nice set. Will this be for display primarily or for hunting?

Primarily for display. Eric made me a nice sinew backed Osage bow about 3 years ago that's my primary hunting bow. I had him make these points 1" wide to comply with MN hunting regulations just in case I wanted to use them

Ya may have to guard that set with your life!  :) Congrats!
