Old saw

My parents had Christmas at their house early this year.  They surprised me with this old saw.  I don't know anything about it.  Its in great shape except for the one broken tooth.  It feels sharp and it would look great with some yellow wood chips on it.  Does anyone know anything about these saws?  I've never seen a tooth pattern like that in person before.

That's a beauty, I've been looking for one of those. A lot quieter than a chain saw ;)

Clint thats a crosscut saw , like those old two man saws you see the old loggers useing just a one man model

My dad had one just like that. He would get my uncle, who was a bucker in the 40's, to sharpen it. It was a treat to use. Saws amazingly fast if sharpened and set right.

Looks like the teeth on some old  2 man cross cuts I have, not sure what it is but am sure it is cool and I would be very proud of it, lucky dog that's a great gift. :)

It would be really cool to cut down an osage tree with it but its in such great shape I don't want to mess it up.  Besides the broken tooth it looks it was never used.

Great saw!  I love old saws and planes.  I ended up with some of my great granpa's tools that hang above the workbench.

Those things were ma made to be used Clint, just cut a small diameter tree it won't hurt that saw

I would be curious as to how long it would take to fell an Osage tree with a saw like that.

Some of those old crosscut saws had a hole in the end of the saw blade. That is for the handle attachment to turn the one man into a two man cross cut saw. I've found the one man cross cut saw to be a right handy tool.

Been Looking for one that is about 27" long.
Going to put it in my BOW TOOLS Tool Box.

One word of advice about felling trees with it.....  Dont give up the Chainsaw ;D

Definately an old cross-cut.  Just the tooth pattern alone, I believe that tooth pattern is "champion". The hole at the tip is for two persom saw (as already stated).

It is in amazing shape. I would feel guilty  using one.

If you do make sure you got oil and wedges.
