what is a bowyer's float?

Hi All,

simple question really, what is a bowyer's float, and does anyone use one?  I am guessing that it's not anything to do with swimming  >:D

It's a multi bladed scraper plane. You can find drawings if you search on google images

Did a quick search before I posted the question but the drawings were hard to work out - they were off the Bowyers Guild coat of arms - like lots of hooks under a wooden plane body, but that explains what I was looking at, thanks.

this is a float (flote, whatever). These in particular are actually auto body tools I picked up at a couple of different estate sales for cheap
and I have seen versions with a straight across blades. I screwed one to the edge of a 2x4 for a grip handle and it works pretty good
in wood....This is basically what a float is. A big single cut file....
