Grandson's 1st buck.
« on: October 28, 2015, 02:52:32 pm »
My Grandson turned 9 this yr & I took him to a hunter safety class this summer, he passed :), only missed two questions.
He never missed a shot this hunting season tho. Not the biggest buck around but it sure made one proud Grandpa. This devil buck was with two doe, he was looking at us over his shoulder at about 60yrs or so from down in some commercial thinned timber. With a rest  & one shot from the 243 the 80gr Spitzer found it's mark and put this buck on the ground. Thanks for looking. Ed
It's in my blood...

Great start and a great teacher for the young man. Congrats to you both.

Congrats young man!

Good grief, how irresponsible.  Not even the subject of putting a weapon in a child'shands, but to choose a .243?!?!  For crying out loud, man, since the invention of the .300 WinMag and the .338 Lapua and such, no self respecting hunter would dare hunt with anything less.  Furthermore, it is the continueing evolution of the deer that they are now almost universally bulletproof to anything short of armor piercing depleted uranium ammunition!!!

Nice work on that li'l devil buck.  I have one of those with a Euro mount, coincidentally taken with a .243!  Keep telling him how good that deer tastes over the coming winter and that poor kid will pert' near bust with pride! Good work, Gramps!

I've heard many people discuss what makes a trophy buck.  I'd say it looks just like that one.  Your smikes say it all.  Congratulations to you both!
