Nock tip question

What's the deal with the double nock tips? I cant figure out what the second groove is for??

It's for  a stringer to attach. That way each limb had equal pressure applied.

Like Pearlie said, this is to use a simple stringer for bracing and unbracing the bow. You see it on heavier war bows quite often. The simple stringer can be as simple as a string with a loop or knot at each end that is slightly longer than the bow or a long bowstring will work also.
