I don't know if you all saw the cactus buck I posted last year....
We got a couple of other ones... One has been hanging out behind the Indian Village the last couple of days enjoying the willow leaves that I dumped out. I will post basket pics in another post... the deer pics will take a couple of posts also.
Now Cactus bucks suffer from one of several conditions.
Cryptorchidism/semi-cryptorchidism - a condition where one or both testicles do not descend from the body cavity.
Hypo-gonadism - testicles are only about the size of peas or a little larger.
Damage - got injured in a fight, by a predator or by some other means.
In all cases not enough testesterone is being produced and antlers do not form at all and are more or less piles of antler nubs that may never shed the velvet. In a semi condition, one antler may form normally while the other does not and both antlers may exhibit "extra" growth near the bases of the antlers. Seems that the right teste rules the left antler and vice versa. One pic is up close and personal and may cause various responses....
