One way of doing it is to simply wrap sinew or string material around the limb tip about an inch or two from the tip. Wrap a good number of times, so that you end up with quite a bulky amount.
Soak in superglue or hide glue to secure it, and when bracing the bow the string goes on from the outside, instead of sliding up the bow limb. Just lift it over the limb tip, and then drop the loop onto the wrapped sinew.
This works at least up to 100lb, so would be fine for any hunting weight/target weight bows.
