My first osage selfbow

I recently finished my first osage selfbow and am looking for some feedback on what you fellas see.  The bow is 68" NTN and pulls 62lbs @ 29".  I stained the tips and handle area with walnut stain and finished with 6 coats of Tru-Oil. The handle is a leather wrap that I stitched with imitation sinew and I used antler for the arrow rest. I want to thank HunterBob for his advise along the way and to many of you on this site who I've learned a great deal from.

Oh man, that thing looks terrible. You should send it to me so i can take care of it for you. I'll make sure it gets a good resting place!

Your finish work looks great! In about 5 to 10 years that Osage will almost match your dye once it ages! Nice first bow for sure!

Thanks for looking, and all your comments.  The PA site is an amazing resource for newbies like me.  The stave I used had 3"-4" of natural reflex which for me was a real challenge to tiller.  Before I realized it I had one tip much thinner than the other.  I was close to my desired weight so I just decided to go with it.  It hits hard and is very quiet on release, but does have some hand shock.

rps3 - I hope to hunt whitetails with this bow after I get more confident with it.  Probably during our late season here in Pennsylvania.

Nice first bow...well done....+1 what patm said...next time try and get more bend in the inner mid limbs and near the fades.....

If your hanging out with bob im sure will meet someday...hes 10 mins from me,n i taught him how to build...well..i tried anyways.... :P  :laugh:  :laugh:   I suck at teaching  :laugh:

Don't let blackhawk fool you. He is a wealth of knowledge.  He likes to teach. He wI'll not do it for you but he will show you. If you get a chance to go to Blackhawks school of bow building do it.
