fingers are crossed!  Linen thread turned up, completely wrong stuff, sent it back. Don't you just love mail order ::)

I picked up some old stock Barbours 16/2 linen thread from the international auction site a few years ago that was exceptional, all of it came from the UK.  I tested it at nearly 20# break strength and if plied up to the same diameter as dacron string would easily break at over 40#.  I've made strings with it for 50# bows and they are ridiculously small in diameter
