What's the moral?
« on: August 27, 2015, 12:09:07 pm »
So whether we're talking bows, buildings, or barrel racing, we've all screwed up from time to time. It's easy to get distracted by the defeat, but let's face it, nothing worth while was ever achieved without a whole lotta failure. It's important to learn from mistakes then keep on a trying. (This pep talk is for me.)

So without further ado,

The moral of the story is: if you cherish your recently finished, flintknapped ceremonial lance, don't spin it over the concrete floor like an idiot.

What's your moral? Let's hear em!

ouch, was nice looking. I found a sugar quartz knife (real one) had it in a shirt pocket that went through the washer and dryer. Would have probably been ok if it would have stayed in the pocket. Ed

Ouch, that one must have hurt.  Cement floors are bad especially for flintknappers, also bad for the feet apparently.  Don't have one in my shop.

You're a liar, Chris!  >:D

And yes, Clint, it was on the fourth spin. My daughter standing by, with jaw dropped as I screamed "Aaarrrwwggghg!!" . . .  We both had a moment of silence. She - not knowing if she was somehow at fault and what I was about to do. Me - trying to decide if there was a rewind button somewhere before it was too late.

Oh Dude....
Quelle fromage* ! ;)
Del
(*For anyone who doesn't get it. That's a reference to a TV sitcom 'Only Fool and Horses' where the main character, a Cockney called "Del boy" would constantly get French expression wrong...  quelle domage = what a shame, of course rather than 'what a cheese!'
Sorry if that doesn't travel over the water... :-[)

Next time use Flint Ridge for the tip.
By it hitting the cement you will then have several
perfectly knapped mini-points. ;D

Ouch! You must have heat treated that to perfection. Good job on the heat treating.
