Arrow Spinner/ Cresting Jig?
« on: August 17, 2015, 08:53:49 pm »
I found this arrow spinner sitting on the bottom shelf at the local Gun/Archery store in town today. She looks like she has been sitting there for about a decade or more, but still spins. She's missing a few parts, but I was hoping you all could help me figure out how to make what I need. I have never owned one before, but I am assuming I will need something to stabilize the arrow out at the other end while it spins. Oh yeah the best part is that the price tag says $89.95, but I walked away with it for $25.00! Can't wait to start doing some cresting.
Thanks,

I have a newer one but it looks similar.  The only thing you are missing is a block with a "V" to stabilize the arrows.  Well that's how mine works. I can take a photo when I get home

I just took the motor out of the mount and oiled it up a bit. It is stamped Bohning on it. So I would say it is a genuine Bohning Cresting Jig.

The block (w/groove) is made of a fairly hard foam. Have fun ! Bob

Craft store paint Pens and Sharpies can be used also - both work surprisingly well. Bob

Bob,
I picked up some small brushes yesterday. I could not find the paint I wanted so I may resort to Sharpies. Thanks for the tip.

Walmart has some gloss enamels that work really good. You my have to experiment with the finish to find one compatible with it, I just used a spray lac so it didn't run.

Testors will work. It dries fast and poly wont make it run.

How fast does it spin? Look like you could use it to dry eyes on fishing poles too!

JoJo,
It does not spin very fast. Not sure what you mean by "dry eyes"? I have been thinking about doing some more fishing. Please inform me as to what that term means. Thanks
