need sum info

hi guys I'm just  wondering  how long  you have to steam a peace of deer horn  before it is ready for straiting . got a knife a Friend wants me to make him with  with a horn handle and ill have to straiten them . how would i go about doing this. any and all info  would be gratefull

youtube has one segment on straightening antler.  It is about 5 minutes into the video.  The guy boiled it for 20 minutes and then  put the antler in a vise (between some leather) and carefully straighten it.  Check out the video for yourself.
