What kind of elm is this

Me and my friend cut two logs of this elm today and I would like to know what kind it is. I'm in Missouri. I'll get pics of the wood and bark tomorrow. It was very hard to split!!!

It looks like American to me, if you take a leaf that you think is either red (slippery) or American and put it in your hand and clap your hands together, the red will stick and have to be peeled off, the American will just fall away..

Good elm might just be a fuzz better than mulberry. Good find.
