Hawthorn bows

Ever since I started making bows last year I have been working with Hawthorn. It seems like my results look a lot like the Osage Orange bows. I would love to hear others thoughts on this. My biggest problem is the Hawthorn tends to twist so any advice about that would also be welcome!

Only use I know of for Hawthorne is tea ;D. It don't grow where I live but I've seen many a good bow made from it, it appears to be a superb bow wood. The only downside is that it's even harder to find a clean piece of it than it is to find a similarly straight piece of osage(or so I'm told). As you've said it seems to have a tendency to twist and check as it drys. Have you tried clampming it to a board?
