Gluing to bamboo

I just tried to glue some Purpleheart tips to a bamboo backing and one popped off. I sanded both surfaces and glued with thick CA. Same method I've used before. The only things new are the bamboo and the size of the tips. The glued area is 7/32 x 1 1/8".

  Did you grind into the heartwood of the bamboo? perfectly flat? It should hold with any good glue.

I didn't grind deep. I scraped the waxy stuff off and sanded it flat. I'm thinking now that I may not have waited long enough. You get used to CA setting up quickly but the thick stuff takes a half hour or so.

I had a couple tip overlay failures with CA glue so I don't use it anymore.  Never had one fail with TB3

Were you using thick or thin CA Marc?

I use pro locktight runny ca never had one come off yet

It was a thick industrial grade glue on high string tension bows
