reflex deflex tiller check

so not the best pic for this, O:)

bow is canted, has lots of character and the lighting is weird :-X
what do you guys think? should i get the outers moving some more or leave em? i'm already at my draw length and losing a few pounds wont bother me.

    I like to keep my outer stiff. To be honest with you if I hit my draw length I am done. Its good to make any correcions before you get that far. If the bow shoots good as I suspect it does I would leave it.

Looks pretty good to me from what I can tell by the picture, love to see it un strung and maybe could tell more. :)

i was going for more of a Egyptian shape at brace. my pics don't show it well but the back is covered in tons of pin knot's, no problems with them so far though  :D

is that yew?  that is a wild looking bow.  I like it.  Show a full draw with the bow upright and straight from the side.

bow length is 58in ntn
draw weight/length 70ish? @ 28in (haven't been able to weigh it yet)
wood type Japanese yew, aka the ugly evergreen bushes people like to plant in there front yard ::)
i will try and get a better full draw tomorrow, its dark where i am right now.
yes i have big o'l goblin feet ;D

Since you have very, very little reflex in those limbs, your tiller should be more round. Since it not round, that means your handle is doing 75% of the work.

...which may translate into more hand shock than it needs...

I'm with pearly, I'd try to get the outers moving a bit more, but ultimately, if it is comfortable to you then shoot it.

A common misconception is that RD bows should look like a "V" when drawn, and that can be true if there is a large amount of mid limb reflex being pulled flat as the bow is drawn. But, if the limbs start mostly flat, then they should become more round as the bow is drawn. If they don't become more round, then the handle area has to give way and that's not good.

thanks pearl i'll get them moving better :)
it started out with more but most of it pulled out :-\ the tips where about a inch ahead of the handle, now they are at least that far behind it.
set seems to be the part of bow building i struggle with the most >:( i can get a decent bend but i have never gotten away with less than 1in -1 1/2in of set.

When you do figure it out with that short of bow and length of draw......let me know because you will have it all figured out.  I think only 1 1/2" of set is really good for that bow.  but that is just my thoughts.......

thanks Danzn that makes me feel a  bit better ;)

here are some better full draw shots
before i did any scraping

and after

i feel that the outers are still stiff, but they are starting to get rather thin compared to the rest of the limb :-X
