54" Burlap backed Osage sapling. Go ahead, Lay it on me!! :)
« on: August 03, 2015, 10:21:10 pm »
This one started as a 3-4" diameter Osage sapling cut on the family farm. It was seasoned 6 months in a hot shed attic over the spring and early summer. It's backed with the same patterned burlap I used for my "patterned jute backed red oak" a while back. I backed it cuz even though I tried to be careful, I violated a ring on a nasty pin knot in the middle of the upper limb.

Stats :

54" ttt bendy D-bow.
55# at 26"
Bottom limb 2" shorter.
1.5" wide to 10 inches from tips  tapered to approx 3/8.
Patterned jute backing.
Hemp wrap on the ends.
Sisal handle wrap.
Red oak overlays.
Took some set. 2" give or on take both limbs

My shortest attempt thus far by 10 inches. It was a twisted, knotted, misaligned mess when I started. I used dry heat and it untwisted and align.
I feel like the tiller is off.. I was just getting really tired tiller eyes towards the end.

It has nice  strong early draw weight and shoots fast, but does have a little thump on release. Not enough to be uncomfortable, but it's there. I can live with it. Hope to draw blood with this one in September.

Simple but effective. Very nice bend.  Indeed a no frills meat maker.  8)

Wish ya had that one avail to show at MoJam . . . am referring to the bow, not the shirt.  >:D

Cool looking bow. I think your handshock is because the mid to outer limbs should be bending more.
