A true Masterpiece
« on: July 31, 2015, 05:42:04 pm »
Fellas,
Don Burchett made this knife for me, it's my understanding that his grandfather, father, and he have made knives. I own several very nice knives both stone and steel and this one takes the cake.
Don was kind enough to photograph the process from raw material to what you see here. I wish the pictures did it justice but no such luck....the fit and finish is flawless and I do mean flawless. Don you are true Master of knife making sir. I'm very proud to own it.
My wife, who usually could care less about such things took one look and declared it an heirloom. So enjoy the pics fellas. I believe he identifies it as a Moccasin Skinner. Thank you Don.

That is a fantastic knife.  Great job on it.  You better keep that one sharp and oiled Rich.

I really like small knives, expecially if they can do some work.  I'd make a knife like that a permanent part of my hunting rig!  Pragmatic utility to the core, nothing extra or flash about it, just dang useful!
Guns have triggers. Bicycles have wheels. Trees and bows have wooden limbs.

Very cool knife.  8)  Now you gotta find something big enough to skin with it.  ;D

Thank you fellas, I'm sure Don appreciates the comments. I do intend to use it for it's purpose but will probably spend more time cleaning it as all the other equipment put together 8) The man builds a fine knife for sure.
