reaching for that golden ring - short sinewed sage break
« on: February 08, 2008, 03:56:41 pm »
Man I thought I had it.  osage 53: ntn, good osage, rigid handle (6" between fades),  clean ring on back, 1 3/16" wide, sinewed, flipped out tips, had it at about 70# at 25" with nice eliptical tiller.  Goal all along was to go 27". full draw for me.  Took it out all the way and it went into 3 pieces.  tension fracture that sheared clean across sinew 10" from upper tip, spalled off foot-long shard from belly, with shard, tip, thrown into opposite directions.  I'll put up a pic for scentific documentation.

No.  Profile held up just fine.  Absolutely no hinge in that area either.  I wonder if there was a ring violation at that spot that gave out.

I have a simialr profile bow I was working on, 52" 75#@26". mine is boo backed. Stacking worse than I expected so lowering the weight to 50# and giving it to a friend.
