I've pretty much poster this everywhere but here - just a sort of curiousity thing, so pardons to those who have already seen it. I got this idea from a fellow called Freeze Cracked. A $3.00 cue ball was used to make this preform (in a secret way of course that involves holding the cue ball in your hand and striking the edge of the rock, but I'm not going to tell you how even though you all know already - it's a secret mystery). The stone is Keokuk. I was suprised on how the rock beat up the pool ball, but the rougher it got, the better it worked. I can see a hunk of ivory working well back in the day, but this is some kind of plastic. I didn't take photos as I went along, but I can report that I did in fact
make several overshot flakes during the initial reduction to biface out the spall. Really, I did. This only shows what the cue can do later - looks a lot like any other percussion method....
