hello folks, what`s your opinion about that elm

I finished it already end of April but I was very busy in my job so I could`nt post it in time. It`s my first elm, straight and flat. The dark brown stripes came out by working down to the desired ring, it looks nice to me.
The handle is a bit bendy so I glued at belly side 2 leather stripes and wraped only a linen cord around, thought it is simple but effective
Total length is 62“, draw weight is 38# at 26“, tip overlays are buffalo, finished with 6 layers of danish oil.

I like your workmanship. Well done. Your tiller does seem a touch off though. It wont bother the bow any just saying for future reference.  The upper limb looks great, lower limb looks a touch stiff out the fade and bending too much in the middle to outter.

To save you time, typically folks dont chase ri gs on elm. You just need to remove the bark. Was a ring damaged? Either way, again, you done good.

Nice looking bow Hans, I like those brown streaks and the character they add to the look of the bow. Enjoy shooting that one, it looks smooth to me.

Tiller looks good.  Looks like a sweet shooting bow to me.  Elm is hard to beat.  Did you heat treat the belly?  Elm on this side of the ocean seems to respond favorably to tempering the belly with heat.  I built one a few years back that finished off around 40lb draw weight.  After a slow toasting of the belly it picked up over ten pounds of draw weight.

Hi my friend,
nothing wrong with the tiller, it's just the wrong angle to take the pic. I've seen the bow in person and tiller is fine as also the whole thing and work. If I remember right it is the third or fourth bow from Hans - I think he has done a very good job.
And he's got a bad virus ....  :laugh: :laugh: :laugh:
