3 D target rebuild help needed
« on: June 30, 2015, 11:08:13 am »
I am looking for some ideas for rebuilding a few 3 D deer targets.

I know about the wrapping the target and using the stuff in a can  you buy at Home depot but heard that doesn't last very long.

Any other suggestions on how to rebuild the center of these targets will be appreciated.

I've used the spray foam. It doesn't last long but I just added more as needed.

I've used spray foam and then wrapping it tight with Saran wrap while it expanded.

I have an old Mackenzie Blackbear target with no replaceable core. I picked up a used core at an archery shoot took a sawzall with a long blade and cut out the bad area put the new core in and filled it with great stuff to hold in place. I'm sure you could pick up any core that is smaller than the animal and do the same

Thanks for the replies, I appreciate it. Someone suggested that I pick up one of those foam exercise step up mats and use that as a filler.  May look for one of those.  If I can't find one I will use the wrap the animal/spray foam idea for a quick fix.

JEB,
At our club we repair targets all of the time and what we use is great stuff alternated with layers of burlap, scoop out as much of the shot out target as you can,cut layers of burlap to fit and layer in the great stuff and burlap, seal it in with plastic wrap. it is not perfect but lasts longer than using just great stuff.

You shoukd be able to get Great Stuff from any building supply or hardware store, maybe even big lot stores.
