Sinewbacked Plainsstyle Bow

Have just finished one of my projects in my workshop. There are still waiting a handful of others to be finished.
This Osage draws 45# at 24". Length: 52", Wide: 1 1/4". 2 layers of bisonsinew, rattlesnakeskinbacking, deerleatherhandle with erminetails and glassbeads. The upper tip is decorated with osagedyed horsehair.

I agree with billy... that thing is hideous, and you should make another and send it to me right away!!
WOW!!! Nice bow. A sinew backed bow has not been added to my quiver yet. Not that I don't want to, it's just that I keep getting distracted! The SSs are gorgeous, also.

Very nice bow.  I had one almost identical to it in every way, even including the horsehair.  Mine was about 50lb@27", and it had pin nocks.  It was not as nice as yours though.  In fact, I don't know where it went to, must have given it away but I don't recall.  Might still be in the bow bin.

Nice bow! how many grams did the sinew weigh when dry? before applying it to the bow that is.

With a fine osage selfbow, my elkhide quiver filled with cedar arrows fletched with turkey, and with the invitation of the forest, I am about as happy as a man can be.
